Getting started

How does home solar work?

Solar panels on your roof convert sunlight into electricity your home can use right away. When your panels produce more than you need, the extra energy can charge a home battery or feed back to the grid. When they produce less, your home draws from your battery or the grid. The result is that you generate and rely on more of your own clean power and less on energy you buy.

Is my home a good fit for solar?

Most homes are a good fit. What matters most is your roof space, its orientation and shading, and your energy usage. During a free consultation we review your roof, your utility bills, and your goals, then design a system sized specifically to your home. If your roof is not ideal, we will tell you honestly.

How do I get a quote from Discovery Clean Energy?

Getting a quote is free and comes with no obligation. Reach out through our contact page or call (720) 370-8056. We will review your energy use and property, answer your questions, and design a custom system with a clear price before you commit to anything.

Cost and incentives

How much does it cost to go solar?

The cost depends on your energy usage and the system you choose, from solar only to solar with battery backup and EV charging. Because every home is different, we provide a custom quote after reviewing your property. Many homeowners find that their solar payment is comparable to or lower than what they currently pay the utility, especially as rates rise.

What incentives and credits are available for solar?

There are federal, state, and local credits, rebates, and incentives that can significantly reduce the cost of going solar, and they vary by location. We help you capture every credit and incentive available in your area as part of designing your system, so you do not leave savings on the table.

Will solar actually lower my energy bills?

When you produce your own power, you buy less from the utility and protect yourself from rising rates. Solar lets you lock in low, predictable energy costs for decades. Adding a battery lets you use your own stored energy in the evening instead of buying it back at higher rates.

Batteries and EV charging

Do I need a battery with my solar system?

A battery is optional but powerful. Solar alone lowers your bills during the day. Adding battery storage lets your home keep running through outages and use your own clean energy after sundown. It is the difference between our Good tier (solar only) and Better tier (solar plus battery backup).

What is a bidirectional EV charger?

A bidirectional EV charger lets your electric vehicle both charge from and send power back to your home. That turns your car into a battery on wheels, giving you extra home storage and the most energy independence possible. It is the centerpiece of our Best tier, full home and vehicle electrification.

Can solar keep my power on during an outage?

Solar paired with a home battery can keep your essential systems running during a grid outage. Without a battery, most grid-tied solar systems shut off during an outage for safety. If backup power matters to you, we will design a system with battery storage sized to your needs.

Installation and process

How long does a solar installation take?

The on-roof installation itself is typically completed in a few days for a home. The full timeline from signing to powering on also includes design, permitting, and utility interconnection, which varies by jurisdiction. We handle the permitting and paperwork for you and keep you updated at every step.

Do you handle permits and utility paperwork?

Yes. Our team manages permitting, utility interconnection, and the required paperwork as part of every project. Our certified crews handle a clean, code-compliant installation so you do not have to navigate the process yourself.

Is Discovery Clean Energy certified and experienced?

Yes. Discovery Clean Energy has 20 years of industry experience, more than 300 installs completed, and over 25 MW of solar deployed across the United States. We are NABCEP certified (Cert #TS-031723-013633), a leading credential for solar professionals.
