The challenge
This Woodland Hills manufacturer produces yeast for breweries throughout the United States. Yeast production is extremely energy-intensive, so the facility uses a lot of electricity to keep every batch on schedule.
The building had one big advantage: a roof with great orientation for solar production.
The solution
Discovery designed and installed a 79 kW rooftop array to make the most of that orientation.
The system uses SolarEdge inverters with DC optimizers. The optimizers report the production of every individual panel across the entire system, so an underperforming panel stands out on its own instead of hiding inside a system-wide total.
The results
The array turns the roof's strong orientation into on-site power for an energy-intensive manufacturing process, offsetting electricity the facility would otherwise buy from the grid.
Panel-level monitoring gives the owner a clear view of how every panel performs over the life of the system.
